Parenting Pirouette

I hope I'm not one of those crazy mothers - the kind that push their kids so hard to perform at sports/music/dance/whatever that the kids hate their activity and don't feel too kindly toward their mother either. I think I might be, though, since I'm sad that we only have one more rec center ballet class with Pink (who went to class all by herself on Saturday - hooray!). I am so sad that I started looking for a local studio that teaches ballet to 2 year olds - and was a little put out that I haven't been able to find one that focuses on ballet rather than "creative movement". Yeah, I might be a little crazy.

  1. I remember Linda being hesitant even with three-year-olds. I think you will probably be hard pressed to find a 'ballet' class. But what is wrong with creative movement? Or a break? See, I'm at the lazy mom stage where if I have to get in the car and drive to the pool one more time (never mind that often I'm there twice a day or that I have to endure one bad hair day after another from the humidity) I may just be the next perpetrator of road rage that you see on the news. Because Utah drivers are just the last straw that breaks this mom's back. And another advantage of a break? You totally avoid the weird guy who sits himself a little to close to you on the bleachers and tries to carry on a conversation with you about the History Channel despite the fact that you are very obviously trying to read a book. Sorry for venting on your blog. It has been one of those days.

  2. While I totally agree with Tristan's opinion as I read it, I have to confess to doing exactly what you did...I searched and searched and was not the least bit happy when all anyone had to offer was creative movement...I have problems and so do you :)
