Family Fun... Taken Seriously

Red took up golf this past year, and loves to play. Since Blue is his father's son, he also took up golf. In fact, his favorite Christmas present was a putter from his uncle.

Since we were all home Monday, and the weather was nice, we decided to play a round of miniature golf - and Blue took his own putter. After seeing his choices at the miniature golf kiosk, Red ran out to his car to get his, too (yes, golf clubs "happened to be" in the trunk).

They might be taking this a little too seriously...

  1. Are you kidding me? I ALWAYS play miniature golf with my own clubs. I can't understand why but I get strange looks when I break out a chipping wedge to get out of the rough.

  2. @Dave - I guess I can blame some "golf gene" then...

  3. I'd channel that focus and drive into a career - Blue could pay for your retirement one day.

  4. @sjw - I think we're better off with a few extra dollars in the 401K - it's been my experience that the focus of a 4-yr-old is rapidly shifting.

  5. Ha ha ha ha! Tyler got golf clubs for Christmas from Santa...unfortunately it is impossible to find left handed clubs (I guess for Santa) and he putts with the backwards. I think it's cute that blue wants to be like his daddy.

  7. I'm thinking Blue could beat me. Seriously.

  8. @Tristan - he actually did a lot better than many adults at the PGA superstore putting contest recently. Of course, that he even entered is just further testament to the insanity of it all.

  9. @tyler's mom - I hadn't thought about the whole right-left handed thing. We think Pink might be a leftie, here's hoping she likes tennis :-)

  10. My kids love minature golf. It drives me crazy that my husband (the golfer) always gets par or below while I rise into the teens on some shots.

  11. I have a lefty and the poor kid is so confused - he plays right-handed guitar, left-handed golf...manufacturers are unkind to the 10% minority and he's had to roll with whatever equipment we can get our hands on.

I think playing with their own putters is brilliant - think of all the germs and stickiness from someone else's Starbursts that they avoided.

    Cute pic.

  12. FYI--your name still shows up on your comments, if you were looking for full anonymity. Thanks for the tag, that was therapeutic :)

  13. @Corbie - thanks for the germs idea - I suddenly feel totally okay about them bringing their own clubs.

@Mrs.B - I know I'm still using my real name, I just don't want a google search of our first and last names to hit our blog... we're not in the witness protection program, just trying to stay a little safe.
