You know, some people just pay someone to do this stuff.

Today started innocently enough: a fairly short to-do list and reasonably nice weather. We started with a quick trip to Home Depot for fire ant killer (yes, we douse our yard in poison on a regular basis - those fire ant bites really hurt) and composting bags. Then the fun began - pruning a couple of trees. Easy ones. After about an hour, it was decided we needed a chainsaw. Back to Home Depot. Chainsaw purchased. Realization that we need new gas can for oil/gas mixture. Back to Home Depot, and gas station. Chainsaw running, children terrified. Tree trimmed. Trimmings dealt with. Family exhausted.

Next weekend: plant something in these pots so the children will stop hiding in them:

  1. Chainsaw? Wow. . .I could only imagine your kids' faces when you got it started. I need to invest in some good ant killing stuff. What have you found that effectively kills them?

  2. Oh, I feel your pain. We have spent many a weekend running back and forth to the Depot of Home. We have never purchased a chain saw though, but I'm pretty sure Evan would not be terrified which terrifies me...

  3. Ah, the dreaded fire ants. We have those too. I hate the welts they leave, you'll have to ask Eric what he uses, it seems to work. And why does it always require multiple trips to Home Depot? It wouldn't be springtime without it I guess. And no need to look for plants for your pots, I like what you've got growing in them already.

  4. @TeamTovar - we like the Ortho Max spread all over the yard - it seems to do the job around here for the most part, and we keep a canister of powder for spot treatment. That stuff always smells like bad cabbage to me.

@sjw - I think sometimes it would just be easier to forward Joshua's paycheck directly to the big orange store and save us the trouble of constantly running over there.

@Lynn - I don't know why it always take multiple trips, but I have never seem up complete a home improvement project with just one trip. Thank goodness it's close! Wish a Lowes was too...
They grow like weeds, might as well pot them, right?

  5. That's the cutest things that could be planted in those pots! Our DIY projects always result in way too many expensive trips to the hardware store.

  6. Those pics are absolutely precious. But, running to Home Depot fourteen times because I inevitably buy the wrong size/color/part? Not so much. :)
